Pluggable transport meeting

Not really sure about what this is, but it is online and as we have disscussed transport a lot around here I thought it might be of interest to some people here.

As far as I understand it, when we discussed “pluggable transports” we were thinking about the possibility to replace the mechanism for passing messages in case the P2P protocols were not ready in time, as a design requirement for flexibility, replacing one ‘transport’ (e.g., ActivityPub over HTTPS) with another one (e.g., XMPP) so that we can transport messages without depending on a single protocol or set of protocols. This site mentions “pluggable transports” (PTs) as a way around censorship, using cryptographic techniques to bypass surveillance systems. Although it might be an excellent target in the future, I do not think it is directly related to our previous conversations around this term.
